K&B GUIDE TO CHEESE CARE
Welcome to our fromagerie at K&B Butcher. We have a purpose made cheese cabinet which has been designed to sell cheese at its absolute optimum condition. The cabinet has just the right humidity and temperature to keep cheese moist and reduce the need for stifling cling wrap.
The best place to keep your cheese at home could be in a small wooden or cardboard box in the bottom of your fridge lined with a clean tea towel. This allows your cut pieces of cheese to breathe but not lose precious moisture.
Keep your cheese well wrapped in the special paper we have provided and replace any damp paper regularly. If you need extra paper just ask. We are often asked when is the best time to eat your cheese. At K & B we work hard to ensure we are selling you cheese in the best possible condition to enjoy now.
Cheese will remain in good condition if kept correctly for a number of days but it is a living thing that will deteriorate over time in a cold environment. Avoid excess handling and if needed cut off only what you will consume on that day and wrap the rest up well. Cheese doesnt respond kindly to excess temperatures, i.e.; out all day in a hot kitchen then into a 4% fridge.
All staff at K&B are trained cheesemongers so please dont hesitate to ask questions.
We are thrilled with the new addition and hope you will be too.
